Photography found me. I actually had no intention of being a Lexington KY photographer or going into the art field when I was deciding what to do with my life.
After my mom died of a long battle with cancer the year I graduated from college, photos began to have a profound part of my life. She was my biggest supporter, my cheerleader, and shopping buddy. All that was tangibly left was photos. Yes, I had wonderful memories of my childhood and her spirit. But it’s the photos that my children will hold and I will tell her story to them. Her life will be remembered by photos when the memories fade.
I bring this deep sense of storytelling to all my sessions. My goal is for loved ones to look at a photo decades from now and smile, hear their voice, their laugh, their sigh, and to feel them in their presence through a photo I have taken.
After 17 years of photographing families, I have worked with all types of kids, all challenges, and have heard every reason why someone doesn’t like to have photos taken of themselves! That still means you should do regular family photos. Photos are long term and while it is an effort to plan and coordinate outfits, I believe it is worth it. It doesn’t matter how old your kids are, whether or not you have the perfect dress, if your child has braces or your toddler is moody, or if you feel you don’t have time, life is passing by and we have to pause and be grateful for the moment we have today. Let’s get those moments captured in photos for your family to have for generations. I promise you will be thankful you made the decision to schedule family photos.
I would love to meet you or see your family again. I believe photography should be displayed on the walls of your home and in heirloom quality albums on the coffee table in your living room. When I’m not behind the camera I enjoy staying active through exercise classes, long walks, and cooking mostly plant based food. Being present with my kids and family is something I prioritize each day.
My Best,
Amy
